The Milton E. Proby Construction Project:

Ames Construction Inc. in coordination with the City of Colorado Springs and PPRTA broke ground in May of this year on this long awaited project. Once completed, Colorado Springs will have the highly anticipated east-west connection to and from the Colorado Springs Airport. The new expressway between Academy Boulevard and Powers Boulevard will create a two-mile stretch of a four lane highway with a flyover improving access for north and southbound Academy traffic.

This project is being funded by the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority.  Voters passed a one percent sales tax in 2004 that will fund this 55.4 million dollar project. The extension of Milton E. Proby Parkway is named in honor of Milton E. Proby who was a pastor at St. John Baptists Church in Colorado Springs for 48 years. Proby, also known for his work as a civil rights leader, passed away in 2006. For more information about the history of the project go to the drop down menu at the top of the screen under the ABOUT tab.

Milton E. Proby Parkway Project Reaches Major Milestone

Final two ramps open to traffic

The final two ramps on the Milton E. Proby Parkway construction project will be open to the traveling public starting at 5 p.m. today (November 4). This milestone marks substantial completion of the roadway work. Remaining tasks include final curb and gutter, landscaping, trail work and other minor portions of the project which will have minimal, if any, impact on traffic.

The opening of the final two ramps today will allow motorists to travel east on Drennan Road and connect onto Milton E. Proby Parkway, and allow westbound traffic on Drennan Road to access northbound Academy Boulevard.
