The Milton E. Proby Construction Project is officially underway.
Ames Construction Inc. in coordination with the City of Colorado Springs and PPRTA will break ground in May of this year on this long awaited project. Once completed, Colorado Springs will have the highly anticipated east-west connection to and from the Colorado Springs Airport. The new expressway between Academy Boulevard and Powers Boulevard will create a two-mile stretch of a four lane highway with a flyover improving access for north and southbound Academy traffic.
This project is being funded by the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority. Voters passed a one percent sales tax in 2004 that will fund this 55.4 million dollar project. The extension of Milton E. Proby Parkway is named in honor of Milton E. Proby who was a pastor at St. John Baptists Church in Colorado Springs for 48 years. Proby, also known for his work as a civil rights leader, passed away in 2006.
Ames Construction, Inc. – Your Proby Parkway Neighbor.
Ames Construction prides itself on becoming intimately familiar with the Proby Parkway Community. Our proactive communication approach will open the lines of communication between project stakeholders and Ames Construction, allowing those affected to become a part of the construction process and team. As we usher in a new era in transportation mobility, we share the vision for the communities that will utilize these improvements on a daily basis. Our goal is to engage our neighbors and minimize project inconveniences. The impacts of the Proby Parkway Construction Project can be minimized and mitigated as the neighboring residents; businesses and project stakeholders are kept informed on upcoming construction activities. Advanced notification will allow potentially affected stakeholders the opportunity to choose how they will deal with the potential disruption and adjust their travel patterns to avoid any inconvenience. Our goal as the General Contractor is to minimize impact through education and information; keeping you ahead of the construction so you can “know before you go.” We encourage you to become part of the Proby Parkway Construction Project.
